A Miracle in Pasadena

The following is excerpted from a feature article in the Pasadena Weekly, December 10, 1993.

You are a single mother with three children and you just found out that you have only a year to live...

You are a forty-three year old man dying of Hodgkin's disease because your immune system is destroyed...

You have no money, no transportation, no food...
You can't afford to pay your medical bills...
They are going to turn off your utilities and your phone...
Soon you will lose the roof over your head...

You've had AIDS for five years, yet you still go on... Five years and you're still alive!

That's a miracle, a miracle called GPAF.

GPAF is all about people.  People coming together for a common cause, people who are there to help, people who care.  When it comes to giving, nobody does it like GPAF.  Last Christmas was a very special one for a dying little girl with one wish - her last one.  All she wanted was a pink bicycle, but her parents couldn't afford it.  GPAF could.  A mother came into town to visit her daughter, dying in the hospital.  She couldn't afford a hotel room.  GPAF could.  "No" is not in their vocabulary - they always find a way.

GPAF, a non-denominational group with no political affiliations, is a United Way Approved Organization, and is a fully tax-exempt, publicly supported corporation under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3).  GPAF is all volunteer, and 96% of every dollar raised through fundraising events and tax deductible contributions goes directly to meet the emergency needs of our community.

GPAF is the only agency of its kind in the Pasadena area.

Even if you don't know anyone who needs GPAF now, someday you willThis is your chance to make a difference in someone's life today.
